FRANCESCO DI FIORE BIOGRAPHY
Francesco Di Fiore, pianist and composer was born in Palermo, Italy in 1966.
He has begun his concert career as solist pianist and different ensembles.
After the studies at the "Vincenzo Bellini" Conservatory of Palermo, he continued his piano
studies with Bruno Canino in Italy and in Austria with Harald Ossberger. For various years he has studied composition with Eliodoro Sollima.
Thanks to a scholarship offered from the Czech Governament, in the 1993 he moved to Prague, Czech Republic, untill 1995 studying at the Academy of Music with professor Peter Toperczer.
In May '92 he is absolute winner at the piano competition "Borgo Cortello" in Udine, Italy. In August 1993 he wins the "XV Internationales Kammermusik Festival Austria Waldviertel" in Horn, Austria.
Thanks to his concert career started in 1986 he has performed in the greater italian places ad also in other foreign countries (Germany, Hungary, Czech Rep., Austria, United States, France).
Francesco Di Fiore is author of numerous compositions for piano solo, piano and orchestra, chamber music, vocal music, electronic and stage music for the spoken theatre.
Between his more representative compositions we remember The Manhattan Suite, Vacuum Concerto, The West Coast Point Of Wiew, Strati, e the multimedia work "Visioni", for piano and electronics plus video. His music is often performed in Italy and abroad, recentely in Germany, Croatia, Spain, France, Finland and United States.
LIVE DESCRIPTION
“Visioni" is the new creation by the italian composer/performer Francesco Di Fiore.
This project, for live piano and electronics, is connected to a video that will be synchronised to the music for the all duration of the performance.
This musical course is developed through 8 chapters of an illustrated book, a meditation on the universe, on the life, on the travel of the humanity.
It is a "note movie" with an "imagetrack" made by pictures and lights.
Every episode are a reflection: on the origin of the life (la cellula/the cell), on the mankind evolution (il viaggio/the travel), on the beauty of the nature and its shapes (geometrie/geometries), on the modern civilization (metropoli), on the art and the genius (odranoeL), on the exasperation of the technology, “the digital age” (rush), on the decline of the civilization (rovine/ruins) and on the extinction that prelude to the rebirth (crepuscolo/twilight).
It's difficult to define a genre. Postminimal music with jazz tints and electronics.
Visioni has been booked by the NWEAMO San Diego Festival (California), by the
Cagliari Jazz Expo 2007 (Sardinia), by Kenny’s Castaways (Manhattan); it has been included in the sicilian artists compilation presented at the Womex 2007 in Siviglia (Spain).

• Audio service to amplify the piano and the pre-recorded
electronics.
• Light service.
• Videoprojector and projection screen.The screen size and position
will be decided according with the hall characteristics and the
production requirements.
This list concerns a complete performance with detailed lights wich make
more evocative the visual impact.
In case of limited equipments and means the performance can be carried
out in an alternative way, without lights support and even without video
support.
